This shop asks parents for information about children. That deserves more than a template, so the children's data section comes first rather than last, and it is written in the same plain language as the rest of the site.

Who is responsible
The controller of your personal data is PODER INFANTIL - INDUSTRIA DE CALÇADO LDA, Rua Padre Pereira da Costa, 883, 3720-706 São Roque, Oliveira de Azeméis, Aveiro, Portugal. For anything to do with data, write to support@poderinfantilshoes.homes or call +351 256 871 538.
We are a small company. There is no data protection officer because we are not required to appoint one; the same people who answer the phone deal with data requests.
Children’s data
The six commitments
- A parent or guardian supplies it. Children do not use this site. Orders can only be placed by someone aged 18 or over, and we do not operate accounts at all.
- It is used only to recommend a size. A foot length and an age go into an arithmetic calculation and produce a size and a range of months. That is the entire purpose.
- It is kept for no more than 12 months. After that it is deleted. A foot length is out of date long before then anyway.
- It is never used to build a profile or to target advertising. Not by us, and not by anybody we pass data to, because we do not pass it to anybody for that purpose.
- It never triggers a reminder. We do not email or notify anyone that a child might be due a new size, that it has been eight weeks since a measurement, or that a birthday is coming. The re-measure date on the results page is text for you to note down, and it does not enter any queue.
- You can have it deleted at any time. One email, no reason needed, and no effect on any order you have placed.
Where you use the Growing Room calculator without placing an order, the numbers stay in your browser and are never sent to us at all.
Age limits. This site is not directed at children. Nobody under 13 may register for anything here, and there is nothing to register for. Between 13 and 17, any interaction with us needs a parent or guardian’s agreement. If we learn that we hold data provided directly by a child, we delete it.
Bulk enquiries. Where a nursery or school sends us a list of foot lengths, the same six commitments apply to that list, and we ask you not to send names alongside the measurements. We do not need them.
What we collect and why
| What | Why | Lawful basis | Kept |
|---|---|---|---|
| Name, email, phone, delivery address | To take, deliver and invoice an order, and to contact you if a size looks wrong before we charge you. | Performance of a contract, and legal obligation for invoicing | 10 years for accounting records |
| Order contents, including the size chosen and the foot length it was chosen for | To send the right pair, to handle returns and exchanges, and to answer a guarantee claim years later. | Performance of a contract | 10 years |
| A child's foot length and age, where you give them | Only to work out which size to recommend. | Consent, given by the parent or guardian | No more than 12 months |
| Messages you send us | To answer them. | Legitimate interest in answering customer correspondence | Until the matter is closed, then deleted |
| Email address for the newsletter | To tell you when something new is made. | Consent, given separately and withdrawable at any time | Until you unsubscribe |
We do not ask for a date of birth, a gender, or anything about a child beyond a length in millimetres and an age in months. We do not buy data about you from anyone.
How long we keep it
- Children’s foot lengths and ages: no more than 12 months.
- Order and invoice records: 10 years, because Portuguese tax law requires it.
- Orders where payment was never completed: kept so we can answer questions about them, and deleted on request at any time.
- Correspondence: until the matter is closed.
- Newsletter address: until you unsubscribe.
Who else sees it
Only the parties who have to, and only what they need:
- The courier — name, address and phone, so the parcel arrives.
- Our payment provider — handles the card transaction on its own PCI-DSS compliant page. Card details never reach this website or our systems.
- Our hosting and database provider — stores the order record on servers in the European Union.
- Our email provider — delivers order and reply emails.
- Our accountant, and the tax authority — invoice records, as the law requires.
Each of these acts on our instructions under a written processing agreement. We never sell personal data, and we never share it for advertising.
Transfers outside the EU
Our hosting and database are in the European Union. Where a processor operates outside the European Economic Area, the transfer is covered by the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses or by an adequacy decision. You can ask us which processors those are and we will tell you.
Marketing
- The newsletter is opt-in, asked for separately from the consent needed to process an order, and never a condition of buying.
- Every email has an unsubscribe link that works in one click.
- We never send anything based on a child’s age, a measurement, or how long ago you last measured. No “time to measure again”, no “your child may have outgrown these”, no back-to-school reminders keyed to an age band.
No profiling, no automated decisions
We do not profile you, we do not score you, and no decision producing legal or similarly significant effects is taken about you by automated means.
The Growing Room calculator is arithmetic that runs in your browser and shows you the result. It does not store anything, it does not send anything anywhere, and it does not learn.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you may ask us to:
- confirm what data we hold about you, and give you a copy;
- correct anything inaccurate;
- delete it, where we are not required to keep it for accounting — and any child’s foot length is always deletable;
- restrict or object to a particular use;
- provide it in a portable, machine-readable format;
- withdraw consent, at any time, without affecting what was lawful before.
Write to support@poderinfantilshoes.homes. We answer within one month. There is no charge.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled it, you may complain to the Portuguese supervisory authority: CNPD — Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados — www.cnpd.pt. You may also complain to the supervisory authority in the country where you live.
Security
- The whole site is served over HTTPS, with no unencrypted pages.
- Card data never touches this site, so there is none of it here to lose.
- Order records are held in an access-controlled database in the European Union.
- Access is limited to the people who need it to fulfil orders and answer messages.
- If a breach ever affects your rights, we notify the supervisory authority within 72 hours and tell you directly where the law requires it.
Changes
We update this page when what we do changes. The date at the top tells you when that last happened. Where a change materially affects how we use data you have already given us, we tell you before it takes effect.
Cookies and similar technologies are covered separately on the cookie notice.
